It's Been A While

Hey I'm leaving this blog for good. It was an attempt to overcome truama but I found myself with more. I will continue to read and help myself but I will no longer be public about it. So long and goodbye. Ty

Life Update

It's not that I forgot about this blog or that I got disinterested. Just a lot has been going on. To start at the most important thing, my pain, fibromyalgia, has gotten worse lately. My flare-ups are becoming much more common and worse each time. Yesterday, I had a flare so bad I wasn't able to lift my head up for long. Luckily I am on meds and I found a way to deal with my two kinds of flares. (CBD cream and bath salts, tea, advil, prescription meds and rest) It doesn't make it go away though, just brings the pain down to around a 5/6 so I can keep functioning more or less.  Another big change lately is work. I don't think I've ever said before but I work in retail - not the most glamourous of jobs. But it pays the bills and then some (for books!). But I've been getting more hours lately because I'm in training for ASM (assisstant store manager) and while I did apply and am excited it is definitely eating up my free time. Not to mention, the more I work w...

Goodbye Days Review

Rating: 10/10 I usually read y/a books about a mystery with a side of romance. B est examples are Kelley Armstrong's Missing, The Masked Truth, and  Karen M. McManus' One of Us is Lying. Which I highly recommend. However, this book was nothing like this. This book was real and raw and left me feeling like my heart was ripped out, but somehow it was a good thing.  This was a story of grief and guilt. A teen named Carver is confronted with the massive guilt of "causing" the death of his 3 best friends. All he does is send one text "Where are you guys? Text me back." Those seven words would change his life forever as his friends get into a crash as the driver attempts to respond. -spoilers ahead- The main character then has a 'goodbye day' with one of his friend's grandmother. Nana Betsy, a very southern Christian lady, and him do things that remind them of Blake and talk about their favourite memories. This leads to Carver telling Nana Betsy that h...

More Goodbye Days Quotes

"There's a water cycle. Water never goes away. It never dies or is destroyed. It just changes from form to form in a continuous cycle, like energy. On a hot summer day, you've drunk water that a dinosaur drank. You might have cried tears that Alexander the Great cried. So I'm returning Eli's energy-his spirit-and all that it contained. His life. His music. His memories. His loves. All the beautiful things in him. I give it to the water so he can live that way now. Form to form. Energy to energy. Maybe I'll meet my son again in the rain, or in the ocean. Maybe he hasn't touched my face for the last time."

Some Goodbye Days Quotes

"do you think he ever got to love anyone the way he wanted to?" "I don't know. I hope so." "Me too." ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Blake, honey, if you can hear me listen real good now. That doesn't make a damn bit of difference to me. I love you more than I love God himself. So if he's got a problem with anything, he can talk to me, because I love you how you are. Now if that all you had to tell me, we'd best go have some of my homemade fried chicken and cornbread. Your favorite."

Intro

Hi, my name is Tyler. My pronouns are they/them. I have this sudden urge to make a blog about my experiences with some books. About me: - I'm 21 and a libra - I'm part of the LGBTQA+ community    - specifically: agender, bisexual, demisexual, and demiromantic  - I'm a norse pagan witch who is still learning lots - I am neurodivergent, disabled and generally mentally ill (adhd, asd, fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, ptsd, among others) - I have a wonderful boyfriend I used to read books all the time as a kid. I didn't have very many friends and so reading was my comfort and escape. I befriended the characters in the worlds those pages unlocked for me. I used to fall asleep imagining attending Hogwarts with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I used to dream of having powers like those in Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers books. Books helped me through a lot. When I was in middle school technology took over my world. Suddenly I had access to music all the time. Music replaced b...
